LEADING a horse outside of a car to train is a "safe and common practice" according to horse owner Bryan Littlely.

Mr Littlely has worked alongside horse trainer and local Heidi Smith for over seven years.

Last week, it was reported that Ms Smith pled guilty to using a car to lead thoroughbred horses on the training surface at the Broken Hill Racecourse.
