THE biggest event on local firefighters' calendar is happening on Saturday.

The Fire Station Open Day is happening from 10am to 2pm Saturday (May 10) at the Broken Hill Fire Station in Blende Street.

"It is our biggest public engagement of the year," Station Officer Dean Scifleet said.

"We know normally we get quite a good turnout.

"It's well supported by the people are Broken Hill."
