THE unions should be at the forefront of the fight for the 17 staff who lost their jobs at a local nursing care facility, Broken Hill City Council has heard.

At council's monthly meeting on Wednesday night, Cr Ashley Byrne put forward a motion of urgency regarding the redundancies at Southern Cross Care Broken Hill.
