A NEW chair has been appointed of Regional Development Australia Far West, after the passing of the long-term head Dave Gallagher earlier in the year.

Byron Hooker was appointed the position by Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories, Kristy McBain.

Mr Hooker lives locally in the Far West and said he's honoured to accept the role.
