A 32-kilometre gap in the wild dog fence, northwest of Broken Hill, has been fixed after being left incomplete for numerous years.

The 18-month construction project saw 8000 picket fence posts, 77,000 square metres of steel mesh and 18 Olympic sized swimming pools worth of clay capping installed along the border.
