RESIDENTS are once again bracing for the annual magpie swooping season, as territorial birds across the city begin their springtime assault on humanity.

With warmer weather triggering the breeding season, magpies have been sighted defending their nests in various parts of the city, particularly around Sturt Park, the Burke Ward area, and around the Zinc Oval in Broken Hill South.
